Before looking for an expert, you should recognize where the problem is. It could be from your hosting.

I have a pretty decent server:

    Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU 3065 @ 2.33GHz

I'm pretty sure that should be able to handle 100/200 visitors per day, in fact it handled 250k visitors a while back.

    I meant the server configuration.

I'm running my site on these config. Everything works smooth and fast:
    OS: Linux 2.6.18-238.19.1.el5.028stab092.2
    PHP Ver: 5.2.17
    MySQL Ver: 5.0.92-community MySQLi
    GD version: bundled 2.0.34
Also, make sure you (through admin panel > System Settings > Database):
    - Enable Gzip, Gzip compressed JS files.
    - Disable archives, calendar, view counter, polls and top-rated articles. That would save a lot of resources and speed your site up.

    Good luck.

Enable gzip only if your server has a lot of memory to handle it Gzip compresses the data to the user but uses a lot of server

Can't believe I didn't played around with gzip on DLE.

    Thanks for that.

This website has just been sitting there, and is getting filled with content.

Might be time to pay a bit more attention to it.
