Why webmasters cheat on stats ?

I'm looking to be an uploader on some high traffic site and 50% of sites which I visit is making fake stats ...

For example see this image:



Ehm I don't wanna put domain name here , but this is site from member from KWWH

What is sense to tune up stats when You got 2 different information ...
233 user online ... and 80 today visits ...

Explain Me what is the point of making retarded decisions like this :/ ?

and in return he will get more uploaders for free and advertisers

I'm not defending the person involved... but just an idea.

Imagine it's 11:55pm and 153 people are online on that website... the time then ticks over to about 00:10am and 80 more people visit the site.
That would mean that 233 people are now online and 80 have visited the site in that day.

That could be a logical solution to the stats... but probably unlikely.

In the early days waz-warez users online used to be boosted a little and it helped a lot to get people to register etc.

Now were at 18k UV a day and increasing all the time and legit stats.

yeah it helps to get register but when ppl register and see what is inside they never come back ... building warez site is impossible in 3-6 months ... to be done properly You must do it really long time to get some success ... I remember times when w-bb starts become a most biggest warez site over here ... also they been one of first high rated sites on katz katz got 2-3 k members online in one time this times
