Can you find same spot shot during day? maybe thing behind them is reflection of light from tree, river, wall, distortion from flashlight, etc. I mean, that does looks like a girl from a movie - Ring
or game - Fear

That's clearly done using an app on a mobile phone. Someone in my work also done it before, someone took the picture to the local newspaper not knowing it was an app. lol.
