Do remember this isn't a cheap, rent a dedicated server and split it up operation. This is a 100% cloud infrastructure with SSD backed hypervisors connected to our high speed SAN (built of 600GB 15K RPM SAS drives).

If the node you're on experiences an issue, it will migrate you to one of our idle / standby nodes without you even noticing, the price is extremely competitive for what is.

Also remember that we're a legally registered company with a registered office (that we actually run and work in, we didn't just pay for the address space!) within London, so you get that extra peace of mind

    Hello,

urgentVPS seem to be attempting to profile as a reliable VPS provider. Here's what happened to me.

I bought an entry-level VPS in February. There were a few outages and the VPS was quite slow every now and then, but all in all, I was pretty satisfied. It was very afforable after all.

However, in July 14th they sent an email saying they're changing their virtualization platform and that all data would be lost in the process. Not exactly the most customer-friendly way of dealing with a major change. But the most interesting thing was the timing. During holiday season they gave three days (!) to back up any data as the email stated the move was going to take place in July 17th.

Okay, I had up-to-date backups and there was nothing important running on that VPS so I thought I'll just get back to this when I have time. When I did, I noticed I wasn't able to log in to their client area any more so I couldn't create a new VPS either. So on August 1st I contacted their support. They advised me to fill in a form with the details of the new VPS which i did. I got no reply whatsoever in weeks even though I contacted them numerous times.

Finally on August 19th they responded with "you're going to receive an email today". I wasn't very surprised when I did not receive any email. That was the last time they responded anything at all. After that they simply kept closing the service ticket without any explanation each time I re-opened it. I also e-mailed them again referring to the existing service ticket. That created a new ticket which was deleted immediately. Obviously I never got any response to the original ticket either.

All in all, I paid for a VPS for a year in February. I haven't been able to use it in four months. Not too great an uptime from my point of view. Just my experiences with urgentVPS but searching the web reveals a few other cases just as mine.

Oh, and my ticket number is 838477 in case someone from urgentVPS is still interested in sorting this out.
