Cheap SSL Certificates?

Hiya guys, has anyone bought an SSL certificate before? I hear you can generate your own but they come up with an "Untrusted" screen in the browser which is exactly what I do not want.

I need something that appears as verified so non-computer users feel safe using my website. Any advice is appreciated.
