I have no idea what a reasonable price is but that is one helluva dedicated server.

It doesn't matter. I/O will be the bottleneck. I'd suggest at least 4 SATA2 drives(I guess you can't afford SAS in the beginning) or even 8 drives since you have a lot of RAM and powerful CPU.
Also, if you buy dual X5650you won't have 24 cores. It's 12 cores and 24 threads(ever heard of hyper-threading?). 12 * 2.66GHz = 31.92GHzKnownSRV.com - Quality comes at a price, and we provide it at affordable prices.

I'd say around $10 on your low end, and around $50 on the high end. Just figure out how many VPSs you'll be able to fit on each node (without overselling the hardware), and divide the cost of your node by that price -- add a little (so you don't make a loss), and there's your rate.
