Panasonic Toughbook Android tablet announced
By John Callaham
Panasonic has had lots of success with its Toughbook line of rugged laptops. The lineup allows businesses and even military users to have a notebook that can withstand a lot of wear and tear. Now Panasonic has announced it will be bringing its Toughbook line over to the growing tablet market with a new product that is scheduled for release sometime during the fourth quarter of 2011.
The Panasonic Toughbook tablet will be based on Google's Android operating system, according to its press release, and will be designed for enterprise users such as government employees, IT managers, and others. In other words, this product isn't being made for the ordinary home user. Rance Poehler, the head of Panasonic Solutions Company, states in the press release, "The vast majority of tablet devices?regardless of the OS?are engineered for consumers and don?t offer appropriate levels of security and durability or the functionality needed for business use. Like all Toughbook products, our Toughbook tablet will be designed and constructed with the mission-critical mobile user in mind."
The Panasnic Toughbook tablet will have a 10.1 inch display with a "high brightness, daylight viewable screen" for its users to see what's on the screen even outdoors. The tablet will also have increased security features "embedded at the hardware level" and of course will be much more durable than the typical tablet product. It will also have an option to put in 3G or 4G wireless connectivity. There's no word yet on the pricing for the Panasonic Toughbook tablet.ShareShiz Reviewed by ShareShiz on .
