would just like to know which Server processor you would use
if you where to buy a server so if you had the choice to choose
any processor for your server without extra cost which one
would you choose?

Depends. If you want to buy a high end one, dual quad xeon will do the job for you.

Don't opt for AMD counterparts, most of em are plagued with overheating problems, even though the performance difference is negligible. Cheers to Intel Xeon i7

I had buy Dual Xeon 5620 as well

Its one of the best and high end CPU used by even most of the biggest companies like cirtex and arvixe

I belive that Intel is the best option.

Intel is great but the AMD counterpart is just as good at a cheaper price.

I would choose
Intel Xeon i7 W3520 - 4x2(HT)x 2.66+ GHz
because I like intel better than AMD

This was very useful for me as i'm buying a server
and believe it or not the Intel Xeon i7 W3520 - 4x2(HT)x 2.66+ GHz
is the cheapest option compared to the
Intel Bi Xeon E5606 - 2x4x 2.13+ GHz
and
AMD Opteron 4174 - 6x 2.30+ GHz
