Depends on how long the cable is and how much loss this cable has per meter.
It is good to have the part from the card to the antenna short, the shorter the cable the less loss.

If you do everything right you shouldn't harm your hardware, but as the others said, I too would invest in better card maybe with the possibility to attach a better antenna :-)

Ah I just read you want to hook it up to your TV Antenna?
Well that for sure won't work - different wave length, different size of Antenna ;-)
