Two themes.

Right, when you've got a forum, and have two themes to choose from. ( Light/Dark )

Do you combine all the features into BOTH themes or have both themes with different features on them?

Example:

Like the light theme has differnt section images and the dark theme has just custom New/Old images.

Combine all the features into both themes. That's what I like to do.

Having two themes is sorta amateurish. Make up your mind and pick a theme. Having two themes means both are only average. If you really did have a GOOD theme you'd only need one. The real way to have two themes is just have js code that switches the CSS so you can have dark and light but only have to update one site code wise. And yes you can do amazing things just by changing a CSS file. Don't think you need a whole new template.

Only exception is mobile or ipad themes etc as they have different features and requirements.
