Help with .htaccess rewriterule

I'm trying to change the search results permalink on my wordpress site from /search/ to /download/, I've been googling around for a while but no luck. So, if anyone can help me, it'll be really appreciated it, thank you.

So I downloaded this plugin:
http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/...rms-tagging-2/

Changed a line of code in both the files, and added a .htaccess file with the appropriate rule.

The code and the rewrite rule(s) are untested but they SHOULD work. If they don't, let me know and I'll see what I can do. It's a little difficult doing it when you don't have a live blog to test it on
