Wll but raj, people, even google says that the actual search is link: and not the links:

Link: operator is the command to see backlinks your site have. but when you type it as links: Sitename.com then it is searched like a keyword. that means google will search pages with phrase "link", "links", "sitename" etc. This will obviously show more results because it is now a generalized search query rather than a command.
