    Google "Ghost-O-Matic StopForumSpam"

Its a vbulletin plugin that checks with the stopforumspam.com database (they have tens of MILLIONS of known spammer IP's/emails).

I have it on ALL my sites. I HIGHLY recommend it. But if you dont have the setting set correctly, it'll have very negative effects.

    1. Enable the function to verify email before the user can post.
    2. Install Glow Host Spam O Matic and get the API keys from the forum which is free to do, then spend some time get the config to suit your needs otherwise it will give you headaches (it did me!).
    3. Add reCAPTCHA, yes it has been cracked but it will still help to a point.
    4. Ban known IP's that are used by bots I am sure people here can give you a long long long LONG ass list of IP's to ban.
