Pentagon blocks workers' access to Japan videos to free bandwidth

The bandwidth demand for watching video out of Japan has prompted the Pentagon to temporarily block Defense Department workers' access to YouTube, Amazon and Googlevideo, the Associated Press reports.

The Pentagon's Cyber Command said that Internet disruptions caused by the earthquake and tsunami had already strained the military's networks in the Pacific and that employees' curiosity was further taxing crucial systems.

Most employees see the bright-red message "Website Blocked." The Pentagon said the restrictions are no reflection of the particular sites.
