Disable Postcount?

Hello.
Have you ever considered disabling the postcount, globally or just in certain forums? ie General.
People are just making posts to increase the postcount and be more "respected" amongst other members, when people should be looking at the join date.

I mean, all we active members know who is who.. Who is the stupid guy, who to avoid, with who to be suspicious.. We all see eachother's replies etc

Is a postcount really needed?

I agree that the post count should be disabled in the general forum.

LOL another fail thread to increase the post count.
Remember, QUALITY > QUANTITY.

You can easily recognize a person that posts for the lulz or a person that wants to contribute. As example, RKO vs. Mr HAPPY - spammer vs. great member.

Yes, pi0, i agree.
But wouldn't it reduce the number of the people that post useless replies just to raise the post count - if there was no post count at all?

It's easy to think that it would prevent useless replies, but are you sure that people who post "useless replies" in the first place only posts to get a higher post count?

No imo, someone (el_j I guess) made a topic somewhere already saying that every spam/useless post will be deleted and user warned, and it works as I sometimes see useless posts disappearing in two minutes

^ You're right. Useless replies are going to get deleted if they are reported. We (staff) can't lurk every single topic and every single page to look for useless replies. We need help from you (the members).
If you spot an useless reply, please report it and actions will be taken. Of course, if I spot an useless reply myself I will most likely delete it and I will PM the owner of the post so he's aware of it. If it's more than one post that has been removed I will post a new reply in the thread stating what has happend.

Some people love to make useless posts and spam for the sake of it, not necessarily to increase post count. Look at WBB's funstuff section, one of the most active sections where post count is disabled.

I don't care about useless replies/topics.
Communities are supposed to be fun, and not all serious. I like offtopic replies.
I'm talking mainly about the people who sell stuff. They post a lot so they have better postcount, thus seem more "respected" or "relible".
