Beware of 'Profile Spy' On Facebook

(CANVAS STAFF REPORTS) - A new scam circulating on Facebook claims to show how many people have viewed your profile.
If the number of views seem too high to be true, it likely is.
The Huffington Post stated the scam goes by various names such as ProfileSpy and ProCheck. The app claims clicking on it will show how many people have viewed your survey.




Before that happens it asks you to fill out a short survey and grant the app permission to access your information.
While the scam seems to come from various sources, they all read something like "My total facebook views are: 1245 Find out your total profile views."




The blog AllFacebook.com reported that clicking exposes a person's computer to malware and shares information with an entity that will likely send more spam.


Facebook has been the target of criticism from security software developer Sophos suggesting its app system is unsafe for its millions of users. The company, as reported by InformationWeek.com , recently issued a statement defending its security practices.


Facebook claimed to have a dedicated security team that "does robust review of all third-party applications, using a risk-based approach."
"That means that we first look at velocity, number of users, types of data shared, and prioritize," the statement read. "This ensures that the team is focused on addressing the biggest risks, rather than just doing a cursory review at the time that an app is first launched."




InformationWeek said the statement was in answer to accusations that its approach isn't enough to keep up with the volume of new threats.

well i know something about facebook which i can't tell here facebook gets load of money by doing it,just be aware that whenever you put something on facebook it becomes their property and you can't do anything that the part which sucks on the internet people don't read tos even i i mean sometime i do
