Default [IPB]Getting control over Automated Bots & Spammers

    Hey guys,
I`m facing this problem since a week.

One User come up validated & posts a spam post about advertising that Viagra & almost everything...

I`ve changed my reCaptcha API but it`s still the same.

    Link to my forum: http://sourceparadise.com/

Can anyone suggest me a way to get control over that spamming bot ?
I`m not 100% sure but It`s spamming bot I think.

Adding custom Question-Answers will help me or I need to do something else ?

Blacklist their IP range in filters.

    They are random guys...
I`ve got around 50 users, most of em are having gmail & all of em are having diferent IPs.

Isnt it possible to block that scripts using reCaptcha ?
I mean I dont know how they guys are bypassing it...

    Anyone else ?

I think it more of these register for hire schemes that pay people to register to different sites.

Try removing that popup login box next.

Yes enable questions and answers but also activate the Spam Service in the Acp! Acp/tab System/System Settings/tab members/Spam Service. Works flawless for me anyway.

    Good luck...

Since recaptcha was broken random questions are the only way to go. Just dont put math questions or ones that have answer written inside question itself.

Well here are a couple suggesstions. When banning make sure you ban everything you know about them.Username..ip..email(s).then delete them.. make sure you use IP deny in Cpanel. Then do yourself a favor and require they need to have a valid email You can display that . Make your questions unique on registration and get the mod for stopforumspam. You can get that at IPB source.
I had to learn the same lesson... and now ... Nothing at all. Good Luck
May the source be with you!
