it is possible but you need to modify all files of vbulletin (not all of them but most of them) with the new name of config file

Im not sure if it will work because correct me if im wrong but if you were to change anything to your config file like your mysql database name, user, and pass your forum will not work because it is linked to that database.

Why would you do that? If you want your forum to be more than 'secured'. Just CHMOD all files to 644 and folders to 755. So no one would be able to upload anything, such as php shell. Changing of config.php name can be done, just change name of the "config.php" including in files, so you would need to search all files that are mentioning / including "config.php". But it has no use to do that..

File is there, it just can't be read accessing it via browser. Neither yours can, you've already added htaccess password protection on your includes folder, even for a biggest paranoid ever that should be enough.

    config.php has no output
Thats why it shows an empty page.
