snip.so xc.io lolblog.net forumvibe.combest thing to do is set up a domain on a fake address using a brand new paypal account (after getting funding on it through paypal transfer). gives a tad more anonymity and a bit of protection from getting suspended

It depends who you want protection from, If you want protection from the authorities it?s as useful as a burst condom (basically it offers you no protection, as all protection services hand over details when requested and most comply with the laws of the united states.)
If however you want protection from people, maybe you run a porn site and don?t want your family, boss, girlfriend to find out, then of course whois protection is useful, without it anyone can get your name, address, and phone number and then use that to find your boss, your girlfriend etc....
So ultimately you need to think about if you have something to hide, i have nothing to hide from family, friends etc. so don?t bother with whois protection, the side effect to this is any man and his dog can go find my name, address, phone number by spending a few seconds on domain tools, to be honest this doesn?t bother me one bit because, my name and address is in the phonebook anyway... but if you run a site you wouldn?t want your family, friends etc. to know about, then of course it?s a worthwhile investment, if you don?t buy it and someone phones up and tells your girlfriend, or maybe you still live with your mum that you run a porn site (or some site which would be frowned upon in your culture) then just imagine the consequences, the hurt feelings all of which could be avoided with a bit of whois protection....
