You mean to say a file hosting company? or just a illegal direct download site?

That could get you in trouble if I am not mistaken.

if illegal direct download you would get a dmca if you get caught which means you would after remove file and i think if you was to get to many dmca then you would most likly get shut down

go with ecatel for warez sites.

if you will host illegal files on your server, then there is no server for you. they will all close it down. but if you will host your illegal files on rapidshare etc. then it's ok.

Go with some Onshore datacenter, Like US or Canada.
Because it can be more safer as compared to Germany or Netherlands,
Because if you are caught hosting illegal files on a US DC, they give you 24 Hours to remove the files and you are fine, but this is not in case of German or netherlands,
they can seize your server anytime they wish.

Btw: Ecatel is a exception, you may want to use them.

If you are serious in hosting files that are illegal on a server, then you could invite some problems for you.

But, if you want to remain safe, then you can try this :
- Order a server (preferably in Russia, Poland, Sweden, Korea, Hong Kong or Ukraine)
- Upload your warez files and have them renamed to some short codes (Example : NFS_Hot_Pursuit.rar to NFSHP.rar)
- Secure the other parts of the server so that no visitor/user can view your directory tree or files on the server.
- Give the download links privately to a set of trusted people (preferably your VIPs)
- They will direct download your illegal files and you'll have no problems.
- Password encrypt the download page too.
- Disallow Google Bot & other search engines for indexing the links as thats the main thing from which Anit-Piracy groups can hammer you.

(Well, this was what I used to do way back in 2008 for my forum VIPs Its my idea !)

what you could do is buy a cheap ass file host script like http://www.x10media.com/filehost-script

install that on a US server if you want something cheap. Disable signups. If you are ever complained to, you look like an uploader. Its not foolproof, but whatever.
