Should I use direct downloads or file hosts?

We're gonna start posting some more graphic resources, scripts, and the like on a blog and I was wondering if you guys would prefer us using direct download links (uploaded onto a private server) or download links via file hosts? I'm only asking because I want to provide the best to download such resources. Should I do a combination of both(if there is a high-demand for both)?

use Mediafire.com then, 4shared.com

I would say a combination of both.
For the small files you could do it via the server but for the bigger files you can use the file hosts
