Default Apple Sues Motorola over Smartphone Patent

Recent reports claim that Apple has sued Motorola for violating the patents related to iPhone.
Apple Inc. reported in a filing, this Friday that Motorola’s handsets like Driod, Cliq and a few other models have violated the copyrights related to iPhone’s touch screen and user interface. The lawsuit was filed in a Federal District in Wisconsin.
Sources report that representatives from Apple Inc. have said that Motorola should discontinue using the patents and they are also demanding an undetermined amount of damages as well as its attorneys’ fees and costs. This suit was filed after Motorola sued Apple over patent violation earlier this month. Motorola was the second-largest phone maker in 2006, when it introduced its Moto Razr and it gained immense popularity after the successful launch of Razr clamshell phone. But it was surpassed by others when smart phones were launched and the smart phones took over the Moto Razr.
Meanwhile, Apple Inc.’s iPhones have turned out to be huge waves of excitement of excitement and they were rushed forward in popularity as the company sold 14.1 million on them in June through September.
Now, Motorola is the seventh-largest phone maker in the world. It’s outstripped by Apple Inc. and Research In Motion Ltd., the maker of the BlackBerry in North America. Motorola’s recent smart phones such as the “Droid” line of phones run on Google Inc.’s Android software.
