Elite.SO Defendos.com Motionite.comHosting Types - Explained
Hello, I got so many questions about the difference between hosting so I decided to post this. It may be usefull for some of you.
Shared Hosting:
Just normal hosting for small sites, comes with cpanel and mostly lots of clients on one server. Why lots of clients?
Average server costs:
- Server: $150
- cPanel: $30
Total: $180
Most hosting "companies"/"kiddies" are selling webhosting for $3 (example) so we will get: 180:3= 60 clients.
How lower the price, how more clients on the server.
Semi-Dedicated Hosting:
This has nothing to do with a VPS or a Dedicated server, it's like normal Shared hosting but with more power. How? Simple, you are hosted on a highend server with lesser clients on a server. This means you can host bigger sites without any problems. (Usually)
Example:
Clients on Shared Hosting Server: 80
Virtually it's: 8GB RAM : 80 = 100MB RAM / Client
Clients on Semi-Dedicated Server: 15
Virtually it's: 8GB RAM : 15 = 533MB RAM / Client
This are just virtual/theoretic examples, you can't compare this practical.
VPS:
As you know you will get ROOT access with this, this also means you need to manage and secure it. Also you need to install a control panel like Kloxo or cPanel (cPanel Additional license fees). VPS's are used to host medium to big sites, this depends on VPS specs.
Dedicated Server:
This is a real server like you see on big ISP homepages, it's not easy to manage a Dedicated server if you are new to hosting, so don't give it a try you will feel sorry. All those hosting types above are hosting on a Dedicated server like this.
If you have more info to add, just PM me and I will add it.
