As some of ye know I've rebuilt MechoDDL from scratch over the last few weeks including a complete rebuild of the Database. The site is a lot lot faster with all page loads less than a second and has being highly optimized for search engines. As a result of this and Phaze going down traffic has gone through the roof.

Since the upgrade we haven't done any re-rates or added any new sites to the whitelist as we said in the MechoDDL Webmaster Area

We'll reopen the whitelist to all the new sites who've being looking to be whitelisted since Phaze went down probably this weekend as I want to give our existing loyal sites some of the extra traffic for a few days as a thank you.

All new sites will be graded on the following each of which will be marked out of 5 and then given an average rank. This means you can start on a higher rank than 1 star although it's difficult as you won't have any submits so will get zero in that area etc.

The reason I'm posting this here as these are good guidelines that will probably help you receive a better rank in all DDL sites and I'm not bothered to PM it to everyone who's asked.


Site Appearance
Simple really. How good does the site look and how easy is it to navigate.

Topic Content
Are their screenshots, text, instructions, install tutorials etc. Remember if it's just images with no text Google can't read it so you need a balance of images and text.

Site Speed / Server Uptime
If your site is slow or your on a shitty server who has loads of downtime then your of no use to visitors.

After Support
If the visitor has a problem how easy is it to get help. Do they have to register to post a reply or will a question be answered. Loads of sites are terrible at this but here's a Good Example.

Download Links
what file hosts their on, and how many hosts are their to chose from. We don't mind if their Hotfile or Fileserve.

Quality of Submits
Basically how good are the titles and are they the right type eg in Movie when it should be in TV etc.

Number of Submits
Fairly obvious. How many submits you've submitted and over how long.

Position of Button
Do you have a tiny text link hidden away surounded by loads of other links or do you have a nice clearly visible button in the header or sidebar.

Download Links Visibility
Is it easy to find the links on the page. Do you have adverts around the links or adverts which look like download links that would confuse the visitor.

Overall Appeal x 2
General overall impression of everything but marked out of 10 instead of 5 to twice as important.

Since it was launched over three years ago MechoDDL never had a porn section as far as I know. It's meant to be a safe for work site that's designed for people 13 and up.

That's the last 6 months. It was upgraded 4 days ago so of course that doesn't show anything. We're not going to catch and pass out a site like Katz in a few days.

mr happy how do i whitelist my forum when i click on webmaster i get this
MechoDDL is currently updating our whitelist process. Until the updating is complete we will not be processing any further whitelist or re-rate requests and all requests will be ignored.
We hope to have the new system in place as soon as possible and thank you for your patients and continued support

But what i bother is that i have contacted over a month ago mecho "support" to be in whitelist and i have no response..
