    Default database problem

    i need some sort of tool to split a database in half its 400mb unziped and my server mysql dies when trying to use bigdump to import it

    need it chopped so i can upload it

    You can't compress it with bzip2 or gzip?

    Also you can simply edit it with notepad, just make sure you cut it after a semicolon (if thats the syntax, don't remember for sql)

    Doing things differently.
    Notepad won't open big database SQL files.

    You can use http://notepad-plus.sourceforge.net/uk/site.htm to open a file that large.

    Why don't you use a console to import it?

    Use mysqldump. and then import with
    file.sql > mysql -uuser -ppass db

    cheers people managed to do it with bigdump run it all night and it never cut out
