is it a pain to install windows xp on dell machine

i was talking to a freind and he said when you do a fresh install on a dell machine it can be a pain to install

as im about to do it on my mums computer was just wandering are there any complications or is it just like any machine

Its the same, except, if you use the Dell install disc, you dont need a number,doesnt ask for one, and it validates.

The install is straight forward as it would be on any machine just make sure you have the correct drivers

yh im gonna use driver magician to back up.......she is on a windows 2000(lol) ...so it wud be a fresh install......if i tried to restore the drivers from the windows 2000 lot would they just ask for updates or wud they refuse to restore

id recommend you download new drivers

I'm sure you need to search for drivers, most drivers won't be installed automatically.
I recommend you Windows 7, it installs the latest drivers automatically however 256MB RAM is required

i only got windows xp at the moment and my mums computer is old so need minimum operating system./.....

does anyone know how to find the updated driver versions as they will obviously be different to the windows 2000 ones
