phpBB3 Default Avatar?

I don't think this is rocketscience, seems to be pretty simple considering the fact that they have made such a cool script, then why the hell phpBB don't add this feature by default?!!!

he already said he doesnt wanna install any mods....and yeah...it will over write all the avatars of the members belonging to that user group....

Is there any way to set a default avatar for members in a phpbb3 forum.
I guess there should be such an option, but can't really find it out.
There's one mod out there, but it sucks when you have to install a mod just for this simple feature.
Any other way to do it?
