Help needed with network

I have a little task to do for school..
I need to create a network in my school. And I kinda suck at it.

So my question is, is here on KWWH someone who did it before? Networking?
I need to know everything frfom a-z, where i should use a switch/router...

well the term "network" is quite vague, there are many types of network; wan, lan, ad-hoc, peer-to-peer, etc.. which type are you studying?

Well jay, i've seen them all. I think LAN will do the thing. I'll illustrate it with an example later, as I'm at school now and don't have it with me. It's only for school usage.

I have to build a P2P network with 10 PCs in school as well.
