at a complete guess i would have thought they are automatically generated XML files. For what? well, good question.

What is contained in these files, have you tried taking a look inside? Is it readable text or random garbage?

well not yet lol. Download one and take a look at what it actually is

Paste some of the contents if you are able (and it does not contain sensitive info) and ill let you know.

All the cacheing is usually in the /cache folder, all cookies, sessions, etc are handled by the database, so i honestly see no reason why any physical trace like those files are necessary.

Its most likely perfectly fine to delete them, but better to resolve the issue of them appearing in the first place

i got this error when trying to view the file
The server was configured to not permit you access to the specified resource. If you believe this is in error or inadvertent, please contact the
system administrator and ask them to update the host access files.

what forum are you talking about?
do other users post over there?
if yes then your disk space is increasing due to increase in db size..

Umm InFlames, read the whole post. There's no reason that core files should be there

If the files are in public_html directory then they are MAYBE due to the configuration of your server how it handles the files but if they are not under public_html then you can delete them since you can't also view whats inside the files.
