DDL - Lets brainstorm :)

Hm.

- Complete revamp of same old template/style DDLs use. Make it unique FFS.
- Make it more serious with pretimes and online preDB
- Automatic link identification system as well as link validity (like how Katz has it)
- Secuirty check from online file scanner with scan results available at any given time (kinda heavy, I know)
- PROPER RELEASE NAMES

To be honest, I dislike DDLs. And I doubt anybody will post anything revolutionary or eye opening here and not just keep it for himself. But yeah, that's all I could think of at the moment.

Some ideas I've had for ages and I'm working on for forums but will never find the time to code for DDL's:

Scan the submitted post to find the links. If no RS, HF, NL, MS, HF, ST etc are found the submit is rejected. This way you won't have new crap hosts being submitted. Also have it so it rejects posts if it has some crappy host you don't want on your site even if the page also has RS links.

The links are then extracted from the post and put into another sql table with reference to the submitted id. This will allow the whole DDL site to have every single link checked in a few minutes easily.

Its copying Katz idea but as their in an SQL table submits can be rejected if the links are already submitted.

If a visitor reports the submitted page as dead the links, which are sitting in a table, are checked and if their dead and the topic deleted automatically.

As the links are in their own table it will allow visitors to search by desired file host (really cool).

Full api system. see my suggestion in Katz Downloads.

Webmasters control panel with a list of all submitted links and the reason each was rejected. Also has notifications on submits which have being deleted due to dead links. This will allow the webmaster to re-upload and submit the post again if they want.

Ability for webmasters to disable/hide their submits while their upgrading, transferring host, or doing other work where their site is down. This will mean less dead pages on the DDL site and webmasters won't have to worry about all their links being deleted if their having trouble with their host.

A few more ideas too that I can't say for now.

I'm implying someone who really wants to make an unique DDL site won't list their ideas here because they want nobody else to copy their ideas.

If the owner of the site wants to remove some of his submitted downloads he can be able to, or something like that.

Also have a bot that checks links on all sites and and see if the downloads are working fine or not, also may be to check if a site is online or not..

my idea is to have two submission pages.

1st - the normal submission page where webmasters submit their links to their website
2nd - uploaders can submit images, description & links as a single post just like submission page of whoo.ws

so now, you don't need to own a website to submit.

I know that MANY uploaders will upload for big sites and will get their post to DDL but if you're DDL has good traffic, uploaders will definitely submit directly to DDL.

That's what I think, it's just an idea.

The problem with this is people are sooo afraid to share their ideas and this is what lacks revolutionary ideas becoming reality!

The reason Open Source was invented was so project can become bigger with the help from a community!

if you can't code like elio you either have to pay a coder to do it or you don't do it at all!

this is why things don't move forward

you all need to be open and share and we can all do this collectively!

im not in the DDL scene much more and im still trying to help them grow by creating this thread!

Some Great ideas here but if you do have a BIG idea then feel free to share it! we can possibly help each other spread this throughout the DDL Scene

if you do it on your own your going to get copied so either way its the same out come so why not do it the easy way and SHARE
