Try to sell ad spots on your site. Selling 10 ad spots as low as $3 will fetch you $30 monthly i.e. $1 daily. But it will be hard thing unless you have good amount of traffic.

Very true and this actually seems to work.
Thanks to RapT1le' tip I announced an advertising spot on twitter for $2 a day and it got filled within a couple of minutes! (not finalized though)
