[PHP] Get value from external

I have search for a script for writing text into an image and so far I've got this

header ("Content-type: image/gif");
$string = "your text";
// try changing this as well
$font = 4;
$width = imagefontwidth($font) * strlen($string) ;
$height = imagefontheight($font) ;
$im = imagecreatefromgif("link-to-image");
$x = 120;
$y = 4;
$backgroundColor = imagecolorallocate ($im, 255, 255, 255);
$textColor = imagecolorallocate ($im, 0, 0,0);
imagestring ($im, $font, $x, $y,  $string, $textColor);
imagegif($im);
?>

However I don't know who to change the string $string externally.

That is if I execute it like this

text-image.php?t=image in test

I should the text "image in test" in the image.

Anyone can help me out?

If you do that you can simply use

$text = $_GET["t"];

so I should simply replace

$string = "your text"; 

by

$text = $_GET["t"];

But instead (going by your code)

$string = $_GET['t']; 

OR you could (it's the same. but hey.. does not make a huge difference)

$text = $_GET['t'];
$string = $text;
