Optimize your services like MySQL, PHP etc. kill & uninstall unused processes. See what Hyperz did http://www.besthostingforums.com/showthread.php?t=14330

If you are using Cpanel go for this optimization guide : http://www. agnivo.com/tech/vps-mysql-and-apache-optimization-guide-27.html
Also, you can use the same tutorial for servers without cpanel - for tweaking/optimizing mysql and httpd
