I would block all ip's from accessing your admin panel Folder excluding yours using deny all in your htacces file.
This will avoid your admin panel from getting exploited

And protect config.php with .htaccess

create and .htacces file for the admin directory

Order Deny,Allow
Deny from all
Allow from 12.4.432 put your ip where the numbers are

Change it up when you ip changes

I do this to every script i have ever had that has a admin panel
