High CPU temperature
I got a AMD Phenom 9600 Q-Core
That is my current readings at pretty much idle. I have a Zalman CNPS9700 installed as the heatsink for my cpu.
What could be wrong or is this normal? If you need any other information ask. Thanks.ACE Reviewed by ACE on . Well, your CPU is only 2.3GHz (about.) so the load % is normal.
But the temperature looks pretty high D:
Did you use thermal paste?

If you have a full tower, this temp is shocking. Here's a good thermal compound.

My guess is this:
1) 71c is a false reading
2) The cooler isn't locked tightly enough
3) bad thermal past between the cpu and cooler
1 is most likely. It happens often, in most cases the temp being displayed is from another component such as the north bridge on the motherboard which can run pretty hot on some chipsets. Your pic also shows a cpu temp of 40, this is probably the real temp. To verify if it's a false reading reboot and check the temps via the bios.

That is the temperature just 20 minutes of having the computer on pretty much idle.
