Post How to Handle This Problem On VPS!!!

    Hi

I have bought new VPS with following Specifications.

256MB RAM and 400Mhz processor Guaranteed. With 4GB Burstable Ram and 6000Mhz burstable processor.

It was all right in beginning. My VPS not use more then 400MB of RAM which is 10% . But last day I face some kind of problems My Ram usage Goes to 45% that is near 2GB and Processes more then 300 ( 3 Running + 297 Sleeping) . this situation goes up to 9 hours. then become normal.

Also there are some processes which are consuming more then 14% of CPU. I have not more then 8000 visitors on my 7 vbulletin forums. Some has 2000, 3500 or 100 visitors each day.

Now I am facing lots of down time sites response time is more then 40 Sec. I am in great trouble. How can I make things normal ? Could You help me to over come this problem ?. Is it because of Dos attack or Virus, OR it is fault in apache or MySQL. ?

Any suggestion or advice is Highly appreciated I am looking for your response

    Thanks

Try to optimize MySQL,Apache and install a php caching system like XCache to reduce memory usage.

Optimize your server or just have a RAM Upgrade to about 1 GB as you stated that you run 7 vB forums with 1000+ visitors.
So I guess, 256MB is not sufficient to harness the user load.
