13 Tips To Start An Internet Business
When I first started out online I thought it was going to be as easy as setting up a website and collecting checks…..boy was I wrong!
Over the last few years building up multiple six figure businesses online I've learned a lot of valuable lessons that will help you if you take note.
Most people fail online because the fail to plan. Theres a few things you need to know before getting started in your online business or you will struggle just like I did when I started.
1. Know who your target market is. You simply can't market to everyone. You need to develop your message, marketing and everything you do should be planned to serve your demographic.
2. You need a blog setup to caputure leads to build your list. Everything you do should be centered around building your email list.
3. When picking a name for your website don't go for a keyword in the domain. This goes against what most people tell you, but think of it like this.
Would you rather be known as your keyword.com or would you rather people know your brand or name?
Think about long term growth. My website is psychologically unemployable because I truly am psychologically unemployable. Mcdonald's won't even hire me because I'm not meant to work for anyone.
4. Optimize all your content around keywords to get search traffic to your website, but focus on creating epic content that people love. Creating content for people first over creating content for just search engines will get much better results.
5. Invest any money you can come up with into PPC like Facebook Ads, Google adwords, or even banner ads.
Free traffic is great, but paid traffic speeds the process up. You can also target your exact demographic with a platform like Facebook.
6. Engage with your audience on social media. Create a Fan Page and a Facebook group. By letting people get closer to you it will build trust which will make selling affiliate products, your primary company or whatever you want to sell much easier.
7. Build your brand. Whether on Facebook, your blog, youtube, twitter or wherever you can show up make sure you're there.
Be everywhere your audience is. After a while they will wonder who you are because they see you everywhere. You want to be the person they follow.
8. Learn to get good at email marketing. Study other marketers emails, learn how to write so people are inspired and engaged. This is a complete game changer.
Once I learned how to write good emails my income went up.
9. Use lots of videos in your marketing. In this industry everything is about trust. When people can see your face, interact with you and get a real idea who they're dealing with they become more likely to buy from you.
Use videos to dominate in your niche. This was an absolute game changer for me. Everything I do involves video marketing.
10. Make sure to develop a good sales funnel. Without a sales funnel in place to do most of the work for you your business is basically a job. Unless you want to do everything yourself you need to setup a sales funnel.
I can take time off, go on vacation or do whatever I need to do and I can still make money because of my sales funnel.
11. Master a traffic source. Nothing happens until you can drive traffic. Learn to be the master at one traffic source and you will have people seek you out to learn from you.
When you can drive lots of traffic everything else becomes easy.
12. Focus on other people and not yourself. When you help people solve problems and provide them a solution your business will blow up. Any marketer who is killing it usually has a big following because they provide constant value.
Help tons of people get what they want and your bank account will thank you.
13. Focus on building your list. From day one you should be making your number 1 focus to build your email list. I made the mistake of avoiding this for years and I wish I could go back and change it.
The marketer with the biggest email list wins. If you do just one thing from this list make sure it's number 13.
