afaik the seo-optimazation within vb4 isn't really bad.
if you want to have it better - there are lots of ways to do so in vb ^^

on mybb i can't really say how to get it more se-friendly.

But mybb is free ^^
so if you don't want to use a nulled version and don't want to invest money, go with mybb - it's not really bad

why are your choices only mybb and vb? how about ipb and xenforo?

vb4 is not good if your board gets big, it runs too many queries, so it could harm SEO in that way if your site loads slow. I'm not familiar with mybb so I can't comment on that. If you do choose vb, you might want to go with the older versions.

Hi, Mybb is better.
Its better for SEO, my personal experience is that mybb is much better in seo than vbseo ir ipb seo,probably because its whole database based, and MyBB uses valid Schema structures and less jquery.

As of it being Free, MyBB is often compared to vB and ipb, rather than phpbb or smf. that itself says all.

I have used Mybb,IPB and VB (legally licensed), and SEO is better with MyBB, although user experience and other things are much better in ipb or VB
