    I generally buy domains for a year. But that completely depends on what purpose you are buying the domain for, if it is for business then long term is good, mine is a personal blog site.

    I usually buy/renew for a year. The only time I justify more than that is when the site proves to be moderately profitable.

    I bought few domains since 2011 or 2012, these domains still live until today.
    However, I have seen many domains disappeared after a year.
    I personally got few quest bloggers and their site no more online.
