Control panel or not?

What do you prefer? Do you prefer a VPS with a control panel for your website, or not?

Personally, I don't like them because they use up resources, and aren't needed if you know how to do it without.

yes. i find control panels very efficient.
working with dns and other things can be very troublesome even if you know how.
And managing all the permissions and security etc is a royal pain.

there are some good free panel re available.
my cpanel vps uses only around 120mb ram,and makes my work much easier. .

I like panels because they make the server easy to use and like hostmafia said without panel some people face problems in DNS issues

I recommend a Control Panel. Command line takes time. GUI > Command Line.....

there are thousands of things that need to be configured in a server.

without a panel, it will take ages, and still will be very poor and inflexible.

for people that are friend with vi and terminal like me i'm sure nothing can do what they can do with vi and configuration files, but for general use or selling host using a panel make customers happier!

We do just fine with few hundred servers and everything done from console
Ok, we do have a control panel for VPS and the like, but for seedboxes, not a problem at all, very efficient and very fast to manage, install and setup servers
Even most of our web servers are without any control panels.
It really all boils down to the level of know-how, if you are somewhat new with managing your own server just go with a control panel
