Bad Link Exchange Practices and SEO Mistakes

so if i do link exchange with another site which contain different niche or different theme, my site will be in risk?

There are two things in this thread that I don't agree with:

1) While NOFOLLOW does have less of an effect than DOFOLLOW, it is far from useless. Nofollow links give juice, and are not ignored. Also, having a good balance of nofollow and dofollow links adds to the natural look of your link profile.
2) "Whole Site Linking", otherwise known as SITEWIDE LINKS are fine, as opposed to what OP states here. I've had plenty of those link to various sites of mine. If they come from a good authority site, it's one of the best types of links you can get.
