If you're a newbie I recommend you stay with cPanel. DirectAdmin is a bit complicated in my opinion.

DirectAdmin doesn't allow 3rd party resellers.

The cheapest way for getting cheap DirectAdmin license(around 5-10$ /m depending on the hosting provider) is from your hosting provider itself assuming he is an authorized DirectAdmin partner who has access to "Code 500" licenses.

You'll have to contact your hosting provider for this. There are various hosts that offer a license for 5-10$, some like XSLTEL offer a directadmin license for free to its customers.

Anyway, I do not think DA has resellers other then datacenters.
