Well, partially I agree with you but in the TOR network BitCoins are used every day.
Maybe it's not gonna work straight away but if people get know that Bitcoins are actually very easy to get and by using them you are anonymous, they'll get used to it. But in order to do that someone should run very stable, reliable and trusted filehosting, actually very powerful filehosting so that people get know there are bitcoins and so that this information will spread all over the world. One man with small filehost will not change a thing if there are several filehosts offering various payment methods that people are used to.

@JMZ
You have a point that it wont get as many sales as CC or PP but the days of filehosting sites offering PP and soon CC on their sites are coming to and end, the events of last month and daily account closures and copyright vigilantes are making it impossible for filehosting sites to use PayPal
Yes new sites will pop in an out of existence, promise riches and then disappear once their PP is frozen, just take a cursory look at threads in this forum...
What I am trying to do is to think of a longer term stable solution

@user7331
Doesnt have to be specifically bitcoin only, can offer liberty reserve, WM, prepaid cards as well of course, anything but paypal and CCs, and more importantly irreversable

@Jesse
Sorry but I already have 7 years admin experience of a large file locker sites and have coded a large site that is still running to this day and many users here use daily, I dont have to prove my **** is bigger than yours nor care, i am here to brainstorm and get feedback, unless you think this forum doesn't deserve a thread that's actually interesting
I am trying to think of the future here and a separate project for the longterm so I can get another 7 years in the business

@iconico
The price has been quite steady in last year
http://blockchain.info/charts/market-price
anyways no one keeps money for long time in the coins themselves, using mt gox can convert between USD and BTC in a second.

@JmZ
All those "crappy" and large hosts are going belly up or gone mad deleting files and accounts, that is not the future
-------
@kapitalnie
Yes coins are very easy to get, in cash in shops by mobile or bank transfer, for example BitInstant in https://www.bitinstant.com/ in USA, Russia and Brazil. no lack of ways of getting them > https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Buying_bitcoins
more importantly its popular by gamblers and gambling sites were "outlawed" in a similar manner filehosting sites are being targeted now by having their CC processing withdrawn and countries like USA effective criminalisation of online gambling, this is where filehosting industry is now rapidly heading

XmasPresent4Me.comThe average downloader is not going to use bitcoins to buy premium, you only think it is a good idea because you would not be buying the premium and see it as a way to beat the recent paypal/cc actions against rogue file hosts.
When file hosts stop paying for downloads and start really policing their servers for copyright infringement paypal will relax the restrictions.

Xenu.ws WarezLinkers.com SerialSurf.com CracksDirect.comThis isn't TOR, this the web.
One is full of criminals, pedophiles and people suffering from paranoia.
The other is full of customers, businesses and legitimate things.
It would get almost zero sales. Definitely not enough to break even, meaning no money to cover server costs, meaning no filehost.
Bitcoins will not work for this business model, fact.Projects:

Jesse i wasn't "slamming" it (tho' it is crap but that's a whole separate thread, lets not go of on a tangent here), just making clear that what I am planning is not yet another run of the mill, pop in and out of existence filelocker site with a retarded name, there's plenty of those already.
I could start a site, promise 99% share build a nice pyramid scheme (as is happening here all the time) and then leave affiliates and paying users with their pants down. It might work once or twice but its a lot of work for little return
now on the other hand a site that can last years can rake in serious money, you know the saying "slow and steady wins the race"
