Firefox 14.0.1 Released, Mozilla Decided To Skip Firefox 14.0
Yesterday Mozilla has released the Final version of Firefox 14 ( version 14.0.1 ) and made it available for Download. Firefox 14 comes with a few new features and security and stability improvements and therefore you should update your Firefox as soon as possible and you can download it directly from Mozilla?s server. But this version update is a bit confusing for general users. Because Mozilla has decided to skip the version number 14.0 and they have updated the browser directly from version 13.0.1 to 14.0.1, entirely skipping the version number 14.0
Actually Mozilla has decided to bypass Firefox 14.0 to synchronize release versions between the desktop and mobile versions of the browser. Firefox Mobile 14.0 has been released on June 26, outside the regular release schedule of the web browser. To sync the version numbers of the desktop and mobile version of Firefox, Mozilla decided to release Firefox 14.0.1 for mobile and desktop on July 17, 2012, instead of Firefox 14.0 for the desktop and Firefox 14.0.1 for mobile clients.
Following are the new features/fixes in 14.0.1 version =
1. Google searches now utilize HTTPS
2. Full screen support for Mac OS X Lion implemented
3. Plugins can now be configured to only load on click (requires an about:config change)
4. The Awesome Bar now auto-completes typed URLs
5. Improved site identity manager, to prevent spoofing of an SSL connection with favicons
6. Pointer Lock API implemented
7. New API to prevent your display from sleeping
8. New text-transform and font-variant CSS improvements for Turkic languages and Greek
9. Various security fixes
10. [Fixed] GIF animation can gets stuck when src and image size are changed
11. [Fixed] OS X: nsCocoaWindow::ConstrainPosition uses wrong screen in multi-display setup
12. [Fixed] CSS :hover regression when an element's class name is set by Javascript
Mozilla has already made this update of Firefox 14.0.1 available for everyone and if you have Firefox installed on your computer then can update directly, simply by clicking the ?Check For Updates? link within your Firefox?s ?About Window?. Or Download link: Click Download Firefox 14.0.1 Final Version directly from Mozilla?s ftp server.
