If you are running on an Apple computer you want to give "Final Cut" a try. That is by far one of the best and most powerful video editing tools. If on windows platform you have Adobe After Effects & Adobe Premier. After effects was used in post-production to finish the Avatar movie. It's pretty good.

Autodesk software is only for 3D and 3D rendering, not "video editing" as you mention.

i'm also going to vouch for adobe premier. its very easy to use for basic editing, but it has everything to for someone who want to get into the finer details.
