After the Panda update that focused on quality content, Penguin was released to counter spammy and un-natural backlinks. This is google's latest update release which changes the google search algorithim.

This update mainly affects sites that were deemed by google to be over-optimized for ranking.

As long as your not providing spammy content or over optimizing your site than you should be safe from google.
