Hey what is the best and free software to make screenshots of a video file?

I know thumbnail me but that creates whole movie thumbnails.

any software which can create single screenshots i.e. 1 x 1

Also if i load 10 minutes movie and i want total of 5 single screenshots to be made from it then it should be able to do that.

Which soft i am looking for?

Thumbnailme has lot of different options! Guess you haven't explored it. It meets all the above requirements.

Use VLC media if thumbnail me is too complicated for you, it takes single snapshots.

It just got these options so when i set it it creates only one screenshot. i wnat it to create total of 5.

Either go Rows=5 columns=1 OR Rows=1 Cloumns=5. It's pretty self-explanatory.
eg:
* * * * * = rows 1, column 5.

* = rows 5, column 1.

* * * = rows 2, column 3.
* * *
