With all respect to your opinion but money isn't all the power. Nowadays, degree is what makes difference. Are you talking about emphasizing on materialism more than intelligence? It is not about driving a luxurious car but about making difference. Who made those automobiles? Who developed all those transportation ways? Who even made cooling and heating systems in your house? Engineers.
It is not about your own profit, it is about what you do for other people. For humanity. Engineers can always get large salaries and run their own private business.
Everyone can learn to skate and program, but not everyone is capable of building these long complexes and bridges.

I have to somewhat disagree. Degree is fine, but it doesn't guarantee a thing, it's just piece of paper. To me it's more fascinating when I see a successful businessman.
Of course without engineers we wouldn't have what we have today I agree on that one but you have to realize that all great things that we see today were not created by few engineers. Sure, in some cases yeah, but in most, guy above you (boss) or who ever it is came up with idea, supported it with money and found right guys for work.
But in end successful businessman didn't got his money just like that, he earned it, one way or another and then invested, not everyone can manage money well, it takes balls and brains to do it right. He didn't just finished school, got a diploma for it and boom tomorrow he's making millions. It all depends which view you have on it.
Long story short, one without another can not function.Have fitness or bodybuilding question? Ask Smith!

The conclusion is businessmen can't be without engineers. But an engineer can be himself as long as he truly understand his job. Starting private business with a small office is not something difficult, it just takes some effort. Business doesn't require degrees as there are people who do trading without having business degrees. It is something obtained with experience and communications with customers. But to be an engineer, you have to know physics, math, you have to have brains, and I mean by that, to be fucking smart and totally creative. Nobody can deny that there are some engineers who can't do the job but we can't blame the field itself, we should blame the people for cheating on themselves. But real engineers are real creative, they pretty much create every piece of technology we have at the moment.
