Server for distributing files or VPS with dedicated HDD's
Hi
I was wondering if anyone could recommend some servers for me. I'll be using them to host files and provide direct downloads.
I've been asked to look into this but I don't know the CPU/RAM requirements for this. All that I know is that it will need at least 1TB HDD preferably more. The bandwidth preferably would be more than 2TB/month.
As an aside would an dual core atom with 2GB memory be able to handle serving out many files via nginx?
So requirements:
HDD: 1TB +
B/W: 2TB+/monthfutureawesome Reviewed by futureawesome on . Server for distributing files or VPS with dedicated HDD's Hi I was wondering if anyone could recommend some servers for me. I don't deal with warez. At least its not anything the USA Gov't would be concerned with lol.
Legal Media files to which I have license for. Videos I've shot with my camera that I want to share with an editing community. ie I'm the owner of the files. (These can be large).

Alright thanks for all the input, I'll look into it.
But as another question. What are the ATOM processors capable of handling? If I were to also host my webpage using it? I know they aren't powerful, but what would their limit be for # of hits/day

epicimagehost.comI also think kimsufi.com is the best option.
You get 2TB.
And for 14eur extra /month they'll hook up an USB-harddrive of another 2TB.
If you need a lot of processing done when the user visits your site ( forum ) I wouldn't opt for an ATOM server.
However, if you don't have a lot of visits ( I'm thinking 50-100 max simultaniously ) you could try it.
FYI we run epicimagehost which has ~40 images loaded every sec on the kimsufi2G, and my load is almost always 0.0
So it isn't that bad actually.
I also run rTorrent which is seeding 70 torrents (totally legit) ATM with a load of 0.0. ( Nobody is leeching tho )
