if you want to have your comment box like this:


then remove this line from your basic.css (around line 255)

its inside: #comments-wrapper 

line to remove:
background: url("../images/grid/bg_reply.gif") no-repeat scroll 0 100% #2E3B50;

the wrapper background will be gone and it will suit your needs.

Hmmm this may sound weird, but have you tried to give the div #respond a margin-bottom?

Go to line 350 in your basic.css, where #respond is and add:

margin-bottom: 50px;
margin-left: 10px;
